Race 8: 1 ½ Mile. (Turf) G3 Sycamore Stakes
#13 Manitoulin (8/1) – We have a nice little graded stakes race on a Thursday and the Cornfather can’t wait to go price shopping. In great form this year, this gelding is 3/5 as a 4-year old and is coming off a win at Belmont where he is much the best. In a race where many are not coming off their best efforts, the Cornfather will give the nod to the hot hand. Jockey Florent Geroux will have to work out a trip from the 13 post, but FloGo is one of the best riders in the country on the grass.
Bonus Key Longshot #8 Hardest Core (12/1) – Don’t leave this old boy off your tickets at a big price. He has the most back class in this field and he ran a big 2nd in a Grade 3 in his 2nd start off a year layoff in 2016, which is the exact same scenario he has today. Trainer Edward Graham has a +2.34 ROI with shippers in 45 starts and the Cornfather won’t be surprised if this one is ready to run.
