Wednesday’s Pony of the Day: Race 7 @ Churchill Downs

Race 7: 1 1/16 Miles. Mdn 60k

With many scratches due to weather today on the east coast, the Cornfather had to search hard to find a race worth betting.  He landed on a nice 10-horse maiden race that looks to be wide open on paper.  More importantly, he also found the winner.

Pony of the Day #4 Kilroy Was Here (4/1) – This 2-year-old colt has run two decent closing 3rds against big fields to start his career.  He has taken money at both Keeneland and Saratoga and stretches out to a route for the first time today.  Two sprints to a route is one of the Cornfather’s favorite betting angles, especially with horses clearly bred to go long like this good boy.  Trainer Albert Stall Jr. also wins at 21% with this move.  Kilroy Was Here should sit close to the lead and have the stamina to finish, he’s got the right blood pumping through his veins.
